Guidelines for considering a graduate program:

  • A graduate program whose title is specifically what is wanted

  • A location in the US that meets other needs such as possible work contacts and networking

  • A university that offers good internships or good job placement opportunities, as well as a history of good placements

  • Other graduate or undergraduate majors, outside of the chosen with interesting courses

  • A well known university especially known for the specific department of study

  • Housing that is appropriate--apartment style or dorm

  • Excellent professors, known in the field

  • Good mixture of people, regionally diverse, racially diverse, international

  • Costs that are within the budget
