Justice Committee - Colegio Bolivar

The Justice Committee is composed of students, teachers, and administrators. It is a vehicle to resolve conflicts between students and teacher/administrators. Students have the right to submit documents and speak to the justice committee when they feel that disciplinary action has not been appropriate. The Justice Committee, in matters within their jurisdiction, has the authority to make final judgments in teacher and administrative decisions.

Objectives

  • Support or refute the decision of the administration towards a consequence given to a student.
  • Listen to student's concerns of unjust treatment and act accordingly.
  • Decide if the accused is at fault or not.
  • Make proposals for changes in the manuals according to cases heard.

Process

When a mutual agreement is not achieved, or the student feels punishment is unfair, he/she can:

  • First
    • Speak with the person imparting the punishment
  • Second
    • Speak with the Dean/Principal.
  • Third
    • Appeal to Justice Committee.

Then, a document is passed stating: if the amused is at fault or not, if the punishment fits the offense, and suggestions on reasonable punishments.
