Directions: You will receive a prompt on an index card. You will have
5 minutes to get acquainted with it. Examine its meaning, peer into its soul and decide how to make conversation with it for a pre-write. You don't have to actually write the essay, just flirt with the concepts, brainstorming, listing possible novel or play titles, developing universal "get global, get noble" themes, listing character names, ideas about authors, developing various ideas about the type of work of "literary merit" the prompt would require, or anything else that would be important IF you had to spend 40 minutes, a serious commitment in terms of AP dating/writing At the end of 5 minutes, I will call time and you will pass the prompt on the next student, receiving a new one in turn. After 35 minutes, we will stop and assess your responses. We will repeat this a few times so that we encounter so that each of you will encounter a myriad of partners. |
