All High School students complete two major
social service projects, one in 10th grade and one in 11th
grade. In 10th grade the students participate in a week long
biological field experience in one of several sites off the
Colombian Pacific coast. All 11th graders participate in a week
long career experience. The school also participates actively in
the Model United Nations project. Seniors finalize the year with
exhibitions of long term interdisciplinary projects.
Services to students include a full time
counselor, a full time university counselor, an Advanced Placement Program
Coordinator, and a doctor. Students may
take SAT and ACT exams on campus for U.S. University entrance.
Evaluation on students’ work is reported by objective. Students
must pass all major objectives of a course to receive credit for
the course. Objective achievement is rated as ranging from "not
met" to "met with excellence".
Student activities include the Student Council, various sports
competitive teams, Honor Society, choir, instrumental music
groups and task forces for assessment and values.
Graduates of Colegio Bolivar receive both the Colombian
secondary diploma and the U.S. High School diploma. |
