We have some books on the original colonies in the library (your teacher has a list); do a keyword search OR subject search for "colony" or for the specific colony you are researching.  You can also browse the Reference Room and the non-fiction areas.  Finally, you can look at our online resources, including Worldbook and Británico. You can also try a search on EBSCO, but there aren't many articles.
