The
animals of the planet are in desperate peril... Without free animal life I
believe we will lose the spiritual equivalent of oxygen.
Alice Walker, Living by
the Word, 1988
We call them dumb
animals, and so they are, for they cannot tell us how they feel, but they do not
suffer less because they have no words.
Anna Sewell, Black Beauty,
1877
We have many books and other resources on
animals and habitats in the primary library, both in the stacks and in the
reference area and in our magazines (ZooBooks); do a
keyword and subject search for your topic and put it in quotation marks (e.g.
"cheetah", "giraffe"); you should also look at our the specialized encyclopedias
and other reference sources. As well, you should look at Worldbook online.
Finally, if you do your own search, you should use
Yahooligans!
or Enchanted Learning first, as
these have material which is easier to use than other sites.
I've included below some pages
below to help you get started. These deal with general sites on
animals and their habitats, but you can search within these sites for
information on specific animals.
You will need help with most of these pages...
