Please use the proper
format for your bibliographies and citations. Check the BibHelpers in the
Reference Room or the English Department Style Guide (pdf format)
here.

We have some books on these topics in the library;
do a keyword search for the "Key Areas of Interests" on your assignment sheet;
these may include" "agriculture," "subsistence,"
migration," "social organization," nutrition," community." Please check our
anthropology resources in the Reference Room, as well as the
school encyclopedias for general information. Finally, you can look at our
online resources, including SIRS Researcher, Britannica 2000, and Worldbook
2000. SIRS, both in hard copy and online may be of help, as well.
When looking for information on
the net, please check
Yahoo! first, using the same search
terms above; you may also want to check for "modes of subsistence" directly. This sites organization
and !hand-picked" links will be your best resource. In fact, many of the
links below are directly from a simple search at
Yahoo!
As always, if you need any help,

Third World Agriculture: A Proutist Approach, by Ravi Batra
Thirty farmers in Andhra Pradesh commit suicide -- ironically, by consuming
the same poisonous pesticides which were partly responsible for the loss of
their crops. Over one hundred thousands farmers demonstrate furiously in
Meerut ... in Gujarat restive farmers burn buses ... in Maharashtra they stop
rail and road traffic. Underground water sources are being drained dry,
fertile agricultural lands are becoming wastelands at an ever-increasing rate,
crops are being blighted with mysterious diseases--and overall production has
stagnated over the past two years. To paraphrase Hamlet, "Something is rotten
in the state of Indian agriculture." |
