Please use the proper format for your bibliographies and citations.  Check the BibHelpers in the Reference Room or the English Department Style Guide (pdf format) here.

We have many books on philosophy in the library; do a keyword search or browse the 100-199 Dewey numbers in BOTH the Reference Room and the Non-Fiction stacks.  As well, you can look at our online resources, including Britannica 2002, and EbscoHost.  Finally, the old SIRS volumes in the Reference Room have a lot of articles particular to your study.

The first place to check on the web for information would be at Yahoo!  This search site is organized into the specific topics you are looking for, and each of the pages has been reviewed for relevance and validity.  Many of the following links are directly from a simple search on Yahoo!

If you can't find what you are looking for, let me know.

EbscoHost
By clicking above, you can get directly in from school.  If you are accessing from home, you will need to use the username (
s4361824) and password (bolivar).
EbscoHost is a database of magazine, newspaper and journal articles and also includes the Funk and Wagnall's Encyclopedia.  You need to choose a set of databases from the opening page (choose High School Databases) and then on the second page choose the databases you want to search.  I would suggest MAS Ultra - School Edition, Newspaper Source and Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia.  From there, you click "Continue" which bring you to the actual Search page.  Here, enter your terms, and check "Full Text" in the "Limit Your Results" box.  What you will get are articles that you can read, email to yourself, save or print on the topic you searched for.  Be careful with your search; searching for "consciousness" will bring up A LOT of hits.  Try searching from something like "definition of consciousness" (in quotes).
If you need help, click the Help buton in the upper right hand corner OR ask me.
