At the Colegio Bolivar a special event that brings together the families with a special activity is our Library night. This event is an annual event at our school to have Kinder 4 children appreciate literature in the library setting. The young children came in their pajamas with a stuffed animal to listen to stories being read out loud by the parents. As in past year, our K4 parents responded positively to this integration.
Luz Ortiz (Bolivar class of 96) has written a book called “Luzia” about a dragonfly that develops autonomy and self-esteem through some frightening experiences. Luz came to speak with the First-grade class last year and was part of the interviews the students do for authors. The story fosters the idea of overcoming adversity with creativity and courage, emphasizing the values of love, acceptance and the primacy of family.
With the interpretation and professionalism of Cali’s theater company Teatro el Telón, the story came alive for the captive audience. We appreciate the continued sponsorship of CB Asopadres and our community values and celebrates Luz’s triumphs and we are proud her story is being shared at the traditional Library night.
