The Middle School section at Colegio Bolivar is comprised of 300+ hard-working students accompanied by 38 teachers and 1 counselor.
All Middle School students take 8 classes during a semester. The school day runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the schedule rotates so the students see five, 70-minute periods daily. The average Middle School student will have classes in English, Spanish, Science, Social Studies, Math, ECAL (Latin American studies), Ethics, Physical Education and an elective. In addition to a rigorous academic schedule, students have the opportunity to join a variety of clubs, organizations and sports.
Each member of the Middle School (both students and teachers) belongs to a designated House. The students participate throughout the year in academic, athletic and community service activities where they can gain points for their House. At times the House activities are competitive, but the true benefit of these events is the spirit of community they bring. The students also learn to understand the importance of civic responsibility and giving back to the community at-large.
The Middle School is a community where we have four agreements to live by:
- Practice mutual respect at all times
- Appreciate others and eliminate put-downs
- Listen Attentively
- The right to have choices (and that choices can have both positive and negative consequences)
By following these four simple agreements, our students are happy, healthy and well-prepared.
Walking through the Middle School, one can see a community that is enthusiastic and ready to face the challenges of the future. Bright smiles and laughter permeate the halls and students work hard towards the goal of academic excellence.
