Cleaning and Disinfecting


Colegio Bolivar will follow all disinfection guidelines included in Resolution 777 of 2021 and its technical annex and will include cleaning (which refers to the action of removing dirt on surfaces and materials with the use of chemicals such as detergents, cleaning fluids, etc.) and disinfection (destruction of microorganisms on a surface by means of chemical or physical agents) Annex 1.

Colegio Bolivar will support healthy hygiene habits by providing adequate supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer with at least 70% and up to 90% alcohol (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer), paper towels, disinfectant wipes, cloth face covers (maintenance staff only), and trash cans with foot pedal to avoid contact, available in all classrooms and restrooms.

Gel and/or alcohol dispensers shall be located in areas with the highest concentration of people, such as classrooms, rest areas, customer service points, school stores, among others.

Maintenance staff or monitors will disinfect classrooms during the break period and in between classroom rotations according to academic schedules.

Restrooms must be disinfected at least every two hours by Maintenance support staff.


A log will be posted for cleaning times and compliance.

No more than 2 people will be allowed in the restrooms of buildings D, C, and G at the same time.

Hallways and drinking fountains will be disinfected during school hours.

Water fountains and sinks with manual faucets will be turned off or replaced, especially in the Pre-Primary restrooms and student restrooms. All manual water fountains will be turned off or replaced with foot-operated fountains.

All students will disinfect themselves before and after school, after eating, after bathing, etc.


Children should sanitize their hands before taking clothes or any item out of their backpack/school bag.

In Secondary, during the 5-minute recess before each period, students may be given a disinfectant and a paper towel to wipe down their work space.

Students should not be allowed to share items that are difficult to clean or disinfect.

Each child’s belongings shall be separated from those of other children in individually labeled containers, cubbies, or areas.

Teachers will minimize the exchange of educational objects in classroom, including pens, toys, and other objects. These shall be disinfected after each use.


Cleaning protocols, permanent disinfection and maintenance of workplaces shall be carried out, including procedures, frequency, supplies, responsible personnel, among others, according to the protocols defined by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Ministry of Labor.

Daily school pre-opening and post-closing cleaning and disinfection procedures, including common areas and furnishings, will be performed with disinfectants, in addition to the regular cleaning and disinfection tasks during the day.

In the corridors near the entrances to the offices, dressing rooms and cafeteria, there will be mobile disinfection stations with antibacterial gel, glycerin alcohol, disinfectant wipes and diluted hypochlorite for hand disinfection.

The cleaning and disinfection protocol shall be activated in an extraordinary manner upon the appearance of a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.
