Getting the greenhouse ready for planting for over the summer months has been hard work and has involved all students. Beds have had to cleared and weeded, and sowed with new vegetables. Unfortunately, our nice big beef tomatoes were attacked by maize worm –\u00a0 an effect of growing maize with tomato \u2013 something we shall not do again.<\/p>\n

We have investigated organic methods to control pests and students found out that diatomecious earth and potassium soap with neem oil have been found to work. We shall attempt to purchase these and use them in the garden.<\/p>\n

On the day of the Bolivar 5K Verde Race we invited children, parents and other stakeholders to get involved to plant seeds and get to know the greenhouse, which was generously funded through the profits of the Bolivar 5K Verde Race.<\/p>\n

We also had our traditional Don Sim\u00f3n Coffee stand giving people a taste of Colegio Bolivar\u00b4s own coffee. This was enjoyed by all!<\/p>\n
