Olga Lucia Nu\u00f1ez in the Accounting Office can also be quite helpful with rates, and there are many “Casas de Cambio” (exchange houses) all over Cali. In addition, you may cash dollar checks at Intercambios (located in Holguines Trade Center, close to school) and at your local bank (a bit more of a hassle). Withdrawing money from a US or Canadian account will get you the official exchange rate or close to it, usually a very good deal. Doing the same in the opposite direction lowers the value of the dollars you will receive. In the same vein, credit cards from the US and Canada that bill in dollars might be better used to buy plane tickets, etc. Nonetheless, check on the rates and the exchange and see what’s most favorable to your situation when you’re converting currency.<\/p>\n
