Maria del Pilar Perez de Cardozo – “Palá”, was an alumnus from Class of 74, the first President of the Alumni Association Board and with several other alumni, created the Alumni Association-CBA, back in January 26, 1998. She passed away on February 3, 2005, leaving her family and the Bolivar Community in great sorrow.
“Palá” will always be remembered for her extraordinary working capacity, her happiness, her compromise towards school, and the kind way she had for saying things. As President of the Alumni Association Board she once said:
“If I were to mention one characteristic that describes Colegio Bolivar’s Alumni, I would definitely say that it is the love we have for our school. We recognize and value the profound influence that our school had on our lives. We are proud of the education we received and know it is a privilege. We look back at our school years with a smile and the certainty of a duty fulfilled but yet nostalgia. CBA was founded to support and contribute in a meaningful way to Colegio Bolivar’s future and to the well being of its alumni. Fourteen years marked our lives in a significant way. Let us turn our heads and build the future”.
María del Pilar Perez de Cardozo
These words summarize the responsibility of a Bolivar graduate and the pride of being a Bolivar Alumnus. The Alumni Association is “Pala’s” the legacy to the school and its alumni.
To honor her memory, in April 2005, the Alumni Association along with the school’s Director, Dr. Joseph Nagy, decided to establish the MARIA DEL PILAR PEREZ – ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP to annually support one of the graduates in their university studies.
The scholarship is a merit scholarship for a graduate in the top 25% of the class who’s had an outstanding academic achievement and demonstrates financial need. The scholarship is a one-time payment of US$2.500,oo or its equivalent in Colombian pesos, to be paid to the graduate upon enrollment in an accredited institution of higher learning. “Pala” exemplified the love for our school and the contribution to our graduates’ future keeps her memory alive. By establishing this memorial scholarship, we hope to inspire all Bolivar graduates to support fellow alumni and their alma mater.
