Director’s Letter

Dear Parents and students,

Welcome to the Martin Felton Colegio Bolivar Library. We are proud to be one of the finest bilingual school libraries in Colombia with over 30,000 books divided into two collections in preprimary/primary and secondary. In addition, we can offer our patrons over 12 different online resources including Follett Destiny, EbscoHost (a collection of electronic research databases), Follett Shelf (e-books), Tumblebooks (animated e-books with narration for both preprimary/primary and early secondary), and Readex (Latin American newspapers from 1805-1922), in addition to access to several associations for various curricular areas.

The Martin Felton Colegio Bolivar library is also pleased to have three librarians and three assistants available to help students and the community in their quest to find just the right book or electronic resource for whatever purpose they have, whether it be academic or personal. Always on the move, the librarians and assistants in the library are here to help students, staff, alumni, parents, and anyone else from the Bolivar community who is looking for something they want.

The library is named after Dr. Martin Felton, the director of Colegio Bolivar for twenty years, a man of foresight, a man who honestly cared for the tight knit community called Bolivar, and a man who read profusely and found in words the means to enrich his life and those of others. He sincerely understood the value of a library in any context, calling it the heart of the school. He will be missed.

You are all welcome to our library. We hope that you will find what you are looking for, be it something personal or professional. As Sidney Sheldon wrote, “Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.” Come and visit. You never know what you will find.
