Through a simulation developed by U.S. scientists and under the guidance of <strong>teacher Carolina Mart\u00ednez, students are exploring how excess carbon dioxide emissions\u2014using an emission rate of 10.5 gigatons of CO\u2082 per year as a starting point\u2014could lead to an abnormal increase in global temperatures in the coming years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"27732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colegiobolivar.edu.co\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-01-28-at-11.14.21-AM-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27732\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"27731\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colegiobolivar.edu.co\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-01-28-at-11.14.23-AM-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27731\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"27733\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colegiobolivar.edu.co\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-01-28-at-11.14.25-AM-2-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27733\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the simulation tool, which uses data from 1960 and projects possible future scenarios, students have learned that if current emissions do not decrease, global temperatures could exceed sustainable levels by 2100, endangering life on the planet. In response to this scenario, their mission is to find a realistic balance: reducing carbon emissions enough to ensure a sustainable future while recognizing that carbon dioxide also plays a crucial role in maintaining Earth&#8217;s natural equilibrium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project integrates the concepts of <strong>Growth Mindset<\/strong> and <strong>Deeper Learning<\/strong>, transforming students into young scientists who analyze, experiment, and reflect on practical solutions.
