On this occasion, the group of students who make up this Society have joined forces to launch an initiative that blends environmental awareness with Bolívar’s values: the Red Heart project.

It all began with an idea from the students themselves: to collect plastic bottle caps and caps from household cleaning products. With these materials, the goal is to fill a large heart-shaped container and donate its contents to the Óscar Scarpetta Institute for Child Protection. This foundation collects the caps and transforms them into cleaning tools such as brooms, mops, and dustpans—generating employment and providing support for families of underprivileged children.

But this is no ordinary container. The Red Heart is mobile and designed to move through different spaces at the school, such as sports facilities, cafeterias, and auditoriums—gathering small actions that turn into major contributions. The heart’s design is no accident: it symbolizes affection, care for the planet, and a desire to help others. It also breaks away from the traditional image of a trash can, inviting people to see recycling as a way to generate meaningful, positive impact.

Currently, the Red Heart has visited Middle School and High School, and starting May 16th, it will begin its journey through Primary. With each collected cap, students not only promote sustainability and recycling, but also show how empathy can go hand-in-hand with actions that drive meaningful change.

At Colegio Bolívar, the Honor Society not only celebrates academic excellence but also promotes core values such as leadership, commitment, and social service.
