Somos una especie apegada a los n\u00fameros.<\/span><\/p>

Si tu nacimiento fue normal, pesaste entre 2.5 y 4 kilogramos. Pronunciaste tu primera palabra alrededor del a\u00f1o de edad. A los cuatro a\u00f1os comenzaste el colegio, hiciste amigos, te re\u00edste, te ca\u00edste y creciste un poco m\u00e1s.<\/span><\/p>

Entramos a Middle School justo cuando el mundo se detuvo por la pandemia. Regresamos cambiados: con nuevas inseguridades, nuevos intereses y una forma distinta de ver la vida. Luego lleg\u00f3 High School y, de repente, los n\u00fameros empezaron a pesar m\u00e1s. Las notas, los rankings, los percentiles, los resultados.<\/span><\/p>

Hoy estamos aqu\u00ed, despu\u00e9s de a\u00f1os acompa\u00f1ados por cifras. Pero son solo eso: n\u00fameros.<\/span><\/p>

Durante mucho tiempo cre\u00edmos que pod\u00edan definirnos. Que un promedio med\u00eda inteligencia o que un ranking garantizaba el \u00e9xito. Y s\u00ed, los n\u00fameros importan. Vivimos en un mundo que mide casi todo. Pero hay cosas que jam\u00e1s podr\u00e1n traducirse a una cifra.<\/span><\/p>

No existe un n\u00famero para medir cu\u00e1nto extra\u00f1aste a alguien durante la pandemia. No existe una escala para el miedo de empezar de nuevo. Ning\u00fan promedio refleja qui\u00e9n estuvo a tu lado en los peores momentos, ni cu\u00e1ntas veces pensaste en rendirte antes de seguir adelante.<\/span><\/p>

La historia est\u00e1 llena de personas a quienes los n\u00fameros no supieron medir. Luis D\u00edaz creci\u00f3 enfrentando enormes dificultades y termin\u00f3 convirti\u00e9ndose en uno de los mejores futbolistas del mundo. Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez recibi\u00f3 rechazos y cr\u00edticas antes de escribir una de las obras m\u00e1s importantes de la literatura en espa\u00f1ol. Steve Jobs abandon\u00f3 la universidad, recog\u00eda botellas para conseguir monedas y caminaba kil\u00f3metros para conseguir una comida gratis. Ninguno parec\u00eda extraordinario en el papel al principio. Pero al parecer entendieron que los n\u00fameros pueden medir resultados, pero jam\u00e1s potencial.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Y detr\u00e1s de cada n\u00famero que hoy nos acompa\u00f1a, tambi\u00e9n hay una historia.<\/span><\/p>

Hay estudiantes que llegaron a este auditorio con reconocimientos y medallas. Otros llegaron agotados. Algunos enfrentaron p\u00e9rdidas importantes. Otros descubrieron qui\u00e9nes son realmente. Algunos ya saben exactamente qu\u00e9 quieren hacer con su vida, mientras que otros todav\u00eda est\u00e1n buscando la respuesta.<\/span><\/p>

Pero todos llegamos hasta aqu\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>

Despu\u00e9s de aproximadamente catorce a\u00f1os de educaci\u00f3n, de madrugar, entregar trabajos a \u00faltima hora y tratar de descubrir qui\u00e9nes \u00e9ramos mientras crec\u00edamos, hoy celebramos algo m\u00e1s importante que un diploma o un reconocimiento.<\/span><\/p>

Celebramos en qui\u00e9nes nos hemos convertido.<\/span><\/p>

Porque cuando salgamos de este lugar, el mundo seguir\u00e1 asign\u00e1ndonos n\u00fameros: salarios, promedios, seguidores, estad\u00edsticas y resultados. Pero nuestro valor jam\u00e1s ser\u00e1 completamente cuantificable.<\/span><\/p>

Somos la suma de nuestras conversaciones m\u00e1s honestas. De las personas que se han subido al bus de nuestra vida, como suele decir mi mam\u00e1, y tambi\u00e9n de aquellas que se han bajado. Somos el resultado de quienes creyeron en nosotros y tambi\u00e9n de quienes nos exigieron m\u00e1s de lo que pens\u00e1bamos posible.<\/span><\/p>

Por eso hoy quiero hacer una invitaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>

No permitamos que una cifra se convierta en el l\u00edmite de lo que creemos posible para nosotros mismos. Atrev\u00e1monos a perseguir aquello que nos hace sentir vivos, aunque no sepamos cu\u00e1nto dinero producir\u00e1 o si el mundo lo entender\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>

Porque la vida no siempre recompensa a quien obtiene el mejor puntaje. Muchas veces recompensa a quien encuentra una raz\u00f3n para seguir creciendo cuando los resultados no son los esperados.<\/span><\/p>

Y si alg\u00fan d\u00eda olvidamos todo lo dem\u00e1s de esta ceremonia, recordemos esto:<\/span><\/p>

Somos mucho m\u00e1s que una nota, una cuenta bancaria o una hoja de vida.<\/span><\/p>

Porque llegar\u00e1 un momento en que lo \u00fanico que realmente sostendr\u00e1 a una persona ser\u00e1 la certeza de estar construyendo una vida que siente suya.<\/span><\/p>

We are a species fascinated by numbers.<\/p>

If your birth was typical, you weighed somewhere between five and nine pounds. You probably said your first word around your first birthday. At four years old, you started school, made friends, laughed, fell down, and grew a little more.<\/p>

We entered middle school just as the world came to a standstill during the pandemic. We returned different people\u2014carrying new insecurities, new interests, and a new perspective on life. Then came high school, and suddenly, numbers began to matter more than ever: grades, rankings, percentiles, test scores.<\/p>

Today, after years of being surrounded by numbers, we are finally here.<\/p>

But they are just that\u2014numbers.<\/p>

For a long time, many of us believed they could define us. That a GPA measured intelligence. That a class rank guaranteed success. And yes, numbers matter. We live in a world that measures almost everything. But there are things no number will ever be able to measure.<\/p>

There is no number that captures how deeply you missed someone during the pandemic. No scale can measure the fear of starting over. No GPA reflects who stood beside you during your hardest moments, or how many times you thought about giving up before finding the strength to keep going.<\/p>

History is filled with people whom numbers failed to measure.<\/p>

Luis D\u00edaz grew up facing extraordinary hardship before becoming one of the world’s best soccer players. Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez faced rejection and criticism before writing one of the greatest works of Spanish literature. Steve Jobs dropped out of college, collected bottles for spare change, and walked miles just to get a free meal. On paper, none of them seemed extraordinary at first.<\/p>

But they understood something profound: numbers can measure results, but they can never measure potential.<\/p>

Behind every number that accompanies us today, there is also a story.<\/p>

Some students arrived in this auditorium carrying awards and medals. Others arrived simply exhausted. Some experienced profound loss. Others discovered who they truly are. Some already know exactly what they want to do with their lives, while others are still searching for the answer.<\/p>

But every single one of us made it here.<\/p>

After nearly fourteen years of education\u2014of waking up before sunrise, submitting assignments at the last minute, and trying to figure out who we were while growing up\u2014we are celebrating something far greater than a diploma or an honor.<\/p>

Today, we celebrate who we have become.<\/p>

Because once we leave this place, the world will continue assigning us numbers: salaries, GPAs, followers, statistics, rankings, and results.<\/p>

But our worth will never be fully quantifiable.<\/p>

We are the sum of our most honest conversations. We are shaped by the people who, as my mother often says, chose to get on the bus of our lives\u2014and also by those who eventually got off. We are the result of those who believed in us, and of those who challenged us to become more than we ever thought possible.<\/p>

So today, I want to leave you with one invitation.<\/p>

Never allow a number to become the limit of what you believe is possible for yourself. Have the courage to pursue what makes you feel alive, even if you don’t know how much money it will make or whether the world will understand it.<\/p>

Because life doesn’t always reward the person with the highest score. More often, it rewards the person who finds a reason to keep growing when the results are not what they hoped for.<\/p>

And if one day we forget everything else about this ceremony, I hope we remember this:<\/p>

We are so much more than a grade, a bank account, or a r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>

Because there comes a moment when the only thing that truly sustains a person is the certainty that they are building a life that genuinely feels like their own.<\/p>

That is what growing up really means.<\/p>

Learning that the most meaningful life is not always the one that can be measured.<\/p>
