Dr Nagy asked me at the start of this academic year if I was indeed going to consider growing coffee as a crop. I thought this an excellent idea and so brought some seeds from Finca El Manatial, in Chicoral to show students the process of starting a mini coffee plantation.

Students were shown the seeds and given some simple factors were asked to select the seeds for planting. Two hundred seeds were selected, that will become the future of CB Coffee. Seed varieties include Katimore and Supremo. If other people have other seeds that they would like to donate to our CB Coffee project then we woud welcome them.

Students then organized a small seed tray where seeds were placed, watered, and covered with shade. Hugo, one of our maintenance team is in charge of ensuring that they are adequately watered. This is the first stage in the process. We hope that in a few weeks we shall have some seedlings.
