It has been a full academic year and we have still not completely finished the greenhouse project – but we are very very close.

The greenhouse almost completed. The netting was pretty much in place and only some small areas needed to be fixed!

With the structure up and some beds in the greenhouse, we needed to get the last beds into the greenhouse, immunized and painted.

The agric students measured out and suggested where the beds should go, marking their location using cord.

Tomas and Esteban, agriculture students marking out the position of beds in the greenhouse.

Towards the end of the year, the Don Simón Club, funded the purchase of the special anti-trip netting, that will prevent insects and trips from entering the greenhouse.  The club also paid for a professional to come and stitch the netting together and lay it on the greenhouse, ensuring a secure environment.

The greenhouse erected with the anti-trip netting in the foreground. The netting was purchased by the Don Simón Coffee Club.

As of yet we still have not filled any of the beds with soil, or finished painting all the beds, however, we set out to build a greenhouse, and kudos to my three wonderful students, Gabriela, Sara and Melissa for pushing this project to completion.

Moving the incredibly heavy eucalyptus wood beds to the Teatrino for immunizing with used engine oil.

Primary aged students immunizing beds with Katie looking on.
A wet BGS day full of moving heavy beds and immunizing them in drizzly weather – fun had by all. Great participation of the GENDER SEXUAL ALLIANCE, the GSA in immunizing and painting beds with BGS volunteers.
