After a year of gardening knowledge, research on almonds, and actual hardcore gardening, I have taken with me the greatest of gifts. I have never been a particularly emotionally stable person. Before I was old enough to actually join the elective, I’d broken my pinky toe so many times, I did garden work instead of PE. I loved it because I released all my pent up anger, frustration, stress, etc, while smashing rocks, digging up dirt, or plucking weeds.
I continued this journey in my senior year and it still worked like a charm. To me, going to the garden was extremely therapeutic despite the heat and bugs. Whether it was physical work or having a laugh with my friends, it always brightened my mood. Inside and outside the class.
It was an hilarious year. Working by Forero (almost getting macheted in the face), was always a good time or just watching him and Lowenstern epically fail at a task or groan every time they got composting duty.

Talking “chisme” with Emma, Thomas the Dr and the 11th graders was always a wonderful time too. I think my favorite thing out of many (I truly learned so much), was how we all came together as a garden family. As cheesy as it sounds, we all shared the same struggles, jokes and tasks.

Agric class 21-22. Left to right: Tomas Bohmer, Lucia Correa, Antonia Zuluaga, Antonia Robles, Alejandra Camacho, Esteban Velasquez, Sofia Leon, Gabriela de Oliveira, Daniel Lowernstern, Esteban Villegas, Alejandro Forerro, Cristobal Fernandez, Maria Jose Garcia and Karime Assis
Who needs therapy when you have agric? It was altogether super fun experience that I’m gonna insanely miss along with Dr. Waliszewski, his funky humor and big heart. 10/10 recommended.
