On another bright and sunny day the location of the Davis Vantage Pro 2 Weather station was discussed with input from maintenance, IT, STEAM, Sustainability groups and the science department.

After considering a number of locations the site settled for was behind the SWALL between the G and H blocks, just lower down from the Sunflowers on our campus.

Setting up the tripod and figuring out how to attach the weather station to it.
Getting the weather station level took a bit of time
Success. The weather station was levelled and orientated correctly so that accurate and precise data could be collected on wind direction.

Katie and I set up the weather station with help from a number of maintenance guys, Nelson and William.  Temporary fencing was put in place and the station went live later that day.

First data from the weather station was observed and plenty of dicussions were held regarding the amount of rainfall we were getting.

The location of the weather station was selected to ensure access to sunlight all day. Also, a central location so that it gives visability to the community.

Stefania Ruiz, our Webmaster made a link to the data on the School´s website that can be accessed by anyone from our community.

This information can be accessed directly from the school website

In the next post I will discuss how you can download the app to use with the weather station and what the data being shown to you means.
