In 2022 we were on the cusp of finally purchasing a meterological weather station when unfortunately, the school was hit by a huge cyberattack and the plan had to be put on hold. Last year a census of how a weather station could be used by staff in their classrooms was made and the results were presented to Dr David Fayad, Ms. Katie Neal and Dorance Moreno of our Curriculum development team and IT leaders. A justification based on the use of data from the weather station by teachers across the school from multiple subject areas and sections, including the sciences, maths, social and environmental studies, the administration approved the purchase of a weather station.
Funded by the Tri Association Community Award, that the Bolivar Garden was awarded in 2022, together with yet again generous support from the Bolivar 5K Verde Race, a VANTAGE PRO 2 DAVIS WEATHER STATION with UV AND SOLAR RADIATION sensors has just been purchased.
It arrived on Thursday and was opened on Friday morning by our science department teachers. Juanca & Ivar (Physics and Environmental science teachers), Marie Elisa and myself (Chemistry and Agricultural Plant Sciences), Kath (biology) and Katie (Stem Co-ordinator) were all involved in seeing our new piece of equipment. Dorance and Stefania from IT (IT lead and web designer) were on hand to look at how we are going to connect this equipment to our network and get the information out to the wider community.

We will beta test this next week and have it hopefully functioning by the 10th 5K Verde Race.
