Another great day where the garden became a centre of inclusion and fun, a place for people to come together and this time in the name of Sports Day to get some good cardio exercise into the bargain!

This year a new sport, CCC (Competitive Coffee Collecting) was tried at Colegio Bolivar and the results were impressive.

The Ninth grade Leopards, were loving it “It is so much fun!” as they ran around and collected coffee – all smiles. The 10th grade Aces only had a couple of die hard coffee collectors but they still managed to collect over two kilos of coffee in the hour and 45 minutes of the competition – impressive. It was a close call between the Rhinos (12th graders) and the Tigers (11th graders), but the Rhinos won with 8.7 kg of coffee collected to the Tigers 6.7kg! The Leopards came in third with 5.8kg of coffee collected.

What was lovely to see was teachers representing each grade level on hand to help the students, and to see students who do not normally participate in Sports´ Day having a great laugh, engaging in the process, running up and down a slope, bending and stretching, working together and getting to know the teachers and themselves better!

Add to that all students were incredibly respectful to each other, were genuinely having a rewarding physical activity and all the while helping the Don Simón Coffee Club.

Thanks to The Leopards, the Aces, The Tigers and The Rhinos for their dedication and to Camilo, Monica and Ivar for their help with the collection.

We ended up with over 12.5 kg of quality coffee that we are now fermenting and will be drying tomorrow, ready for processing and sale in November.
