Day Trips Close to Cali
For interesting day trips to places close to Cali, you might try the Hacienda at El Paraíso. There is a beautiful sugar museum (El Museo de la Caña de Azucar) close by in Piedechinche, which contains examples of much different flora and fauna native to Colombia.
In addition, Buga is world famous for its church (Basílica del Señor de Los Milagros) located in the center of town (Carrera 14 with Calle 4) built to honor the image of El Señor de Los Milagros (the Miraculous Christ), a vision seen by an Indian woman in 1570 and given credit for many miraculous cures since.
Lago Calima, home to the reservoir that supplies much of Cali with its water, is also a beautiful (and cool) place to see on a weekend trip; windsurfing and jet skis can be rented here. You can check with the Activities Office about accommodations in the Comfenalco hotel in Calima.
Finally, the Coffee Park, Hacienda Paraiso, and Panaca (an agricultural park) all make for a nice longer weekend trip.
