On April 16 & 17, 2027, our school will host the Bolivar Forum with the support of ACCAS (the Association of Colombia-Caribbean American Schools). Starting in 1994 (this is our 16th edition), every other year we have welcomed educators from around Colombia, and our region, who have shared their experiences and have jointly reflected upon their practice. Our motto has always been: “Teachers Teaching Teachers”.

This year, in addition to the concurrent sessions led by educators from our schools, our keynote speakers will be:

Shelley Hawkes

M.Ed., an international special education consultant passionate about effective inclusion in international schools. She has worked in the United States, Jordan, the UAE, Malaysia and Chile. The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) received the International School Award for Initiative to Support Inclusion based on the Life-Centered Education program Shelley created. Shelley has spoken at conferences across the globe. From 2020 to 2022, she served as the Director of Growth and Development for the SENIA Organization. She also co-authored the Next Frontier Inclusion (NFI) publication, Challenge Accepted: Reframing our Approaches to Behavior Management in International Schools

Shannon Hobbs-Beckley

Is a school leader who has walked in your shoes. With over 30 years in PreK-12 schools across the U.S. and abroad, she has held roles such as classroom teacher, principal, and Chief Learning Officer. She knows firsthand what it takes to lead with humanity while navigating complexity. Now a certified leadership coach and founder of Shannon Beckley Coaching & Consulting, she helps educators build on their strengths, lead with intention, and thrive. She will be facilitating sessions on leadership, change, and impactful school transformation.

FAQ

Fill out the Presenter Registration Form. Make sure you write a good description that
clearly states what your 60-minute workshop is about and what attendees will get out of
it. This 100-word description is what will appear on the program. Choose a title that
reflects the content of the workshop so there is no question as to what attendees will
hear about.

Your presentation cannot promote a product, service, or organization in which you have
a financial interest.

The general purpose of the CB Forum is for teachers to share their experiences with
each other. Administrators, counselors, and other professionals in education-related
fields are welcome to share their knowledge as well.

There is no limit of presenters per session but, obviously a large number of presenters
might be too many.

All presentations are scheduled as 60-minute workshops.

You will get confirmation of receipt of your proposal within five days. If you do not hear
from us, please email or call Dr. David Fayad, Director of Learning, to confirm that we
have your proposal dfayad@colegiobolivar.edu.co Tel: 57-602-485-5050, Ext. 221

Plan for about 20. You may have fewer, or you may have more. We do not use a sign-
up system so there is no way to tell how many people will be interested in your topic. Up

to now, we have preferred to allow people to go to their first choice rather than limit
attendance to each session to evenly distribute attendees.

Yes. We are encouraging the use of electronic handouts; however, if you must have
paper handouts, please bring your own copies.

All rooms are equipped with video projectors, whiteboards, markers, and several rooms
also have interactive whiteboards or screens. You may request a flipchart. Two
auditoriums are available for presentations that require a stage or expect a large
audience. They are equipped with microphones, video projectors, multimedia setup,
surround sound, etc. Computers and computer labs with internet access are available
(see below for more info). Document cameras are also available upon request.

Colegio Bolivar has school-wide Internet access and two computer labs (one with 24
computers, and one with 22). All classrooms are equipped with one or more computers
and there are several laptop carts available. For questions relating to your personal set-
up needs about software installation, multimedia access, computer hard-disk space
availability, and configuration, please contact Dorance Moreno, EdTech Leader
dmoreno@colegiobolivar.edu.co

Send a message to Dr. David Fayad, Director of
Learning, dfayad@colegiobolivar.edu.co.
We are here to help you make your presentation a success.
