Cable TV

Cable TV is widely available. There are many options. The first is through fiber optic and cable lines; there are a number of providers in town, and your choice will depend on the package offered, as well as the availability of certain services in certain areas. Several also offer Internet and telephone packages with their cable TV. The basic price is between US$15.00 and US$35.00 and up, depending on your package. Many channels may be viewed in either English or Spanish. The most widely available is Claro. The second option is DirecTV, which is available throughout the city. Although expensive (monthly rates between US$20.00 and US$40.00, the service is interactive and offers a wide variety of channels in both English and Spanish, including Pay Per View, BBC CNN, NFL, baseball, NBA hockey, as well as audio channels.  The top two providers which offer limited high definition packages are DirecTV and Claro.

You might have some problems in acquiring these services because they have been demanding a credit record with all subscriptions, which, of course, you do not have. We will try to help you with this obstacle.

As mentioned before, if you get a good internet connection, you can satisfy your need for programming through NetFlix, Hulu, Vudu, etc.

You will need a US card for Hulu.  A VPN is also a good suggestion if you want to watch the US version of Netflix and other services of this type.
