The Internet

The Internet is also available in Cali through a variety of service providers. High-speed access is available from several different providers through coaxial and fiber optic lines, WiFi and WiFiMax (microwave) in most areas of the city. Most offer the cable modem as part of the setup fee and all services throttle the connection to a maximum amount of data throughput or limitations on bandwidth. Rates run between $20.00 and $40.00 and up a month depending on the plan. Speeds vary between 5MB and 20MB for the most expensive plan. Claro, which started business in Colombia about ten years ago, is one of the most popular and wide-spread services for all digital communications.
Current offerings include what most providers are calling “Triple Play” – internet, telephone, and TV.

As with the cable services on the previous page, you might have some problems in acquiring these services because they have been demanding a credit record with all subscriptions, which, of course, you do not have. We will try to help you with this obstacle.
