Electrical Current
All major cities operate on 110 AC and 60 cycles (the same as the U.S. and Canada). Before plugging in a blow dryer, etc. in a small town, however, check the current. Power fluctuations and cuts are not uncommon, so if you are planning to have a TV, DVD/BlueRay, or a computer, you should get a regulator and/or a battery back up (UPS, especially for a computer), and a surge protector. These are available locally. UPS’s are more expensive than in the States, but the good ones are very heavy and you probably won’t want to weigh down your luggage with one.
