This summer, the school had the honor of being represented at the Annual International Association for College Admission Counseling (ACAC) Conference by our college counselor, Andrea Peisker. The conference, held at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, is an important annual event that brings together college admissions professionals and school counselors from all over the world. In its 2025 edition, more than 1,500 attendees from 110 countries participated, confirming its relevance as one of the most influential educational gatherings worldwide.

Andrea actively participated in the three days of workshops and sessions, and represented Colegio Bolívar at the counselor fair, a key space to strengthen ties with universities and explore new academic opportunities for our students. “This is already the seventh conference I have attended and it is always enriching,” said Ms. Peisker. “Not only because of the topics covered, but also because of the networking opportunities that arise, which are vital for our work.”
The conference, held every July over three days, is also a showcase for the host university. This time, Northeastern University presented its campus and academic offerings to thousands of professionals, while its president, Joseph Aoun, delivered an inspiring keynote on the impact of artificial intelligence in education. “Artificial intelligence is key for this generation, but we must teach them to use it as a tool, not as a replacement for their thinking. In the future, not mastering it will be a disadvantage. And with the decline in the number of students entering universities, lifelong learning is emerging as a highly valuable alternative,” Ms. Peisker noted.

Among the most valuable sessions for her role as a counselor, Andrea highlighted a workshop on balancing the desire to be a competitive candidate with the need for the college application process to be positive and free from excessive pressure on students. She was also intrigued by the evolution of standardized testing and the possibility of opening new academic destinations, such as Scotland, that often go unnoticed. “There are workshops very focused on empowering students to take the wheel of their future,” she added, “and that is a message we hold very dear at Bolívar.”
The counselor fair was another key moment. There, Ms. Peisker established connections with universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia—many of them with new English-language programs—scheduling possible visits that will enrich the college counseling opportunities available to our students.
Colegio Bolívar’s presence at ACAC 2025 reaffirms our commitment to a global, innovative education aligned with the latest trends. As Andrea summarizes: “Your educational journey is not always a straight line from point A to B. It may have ups, downs, and detours, but that is part of the process. What matters is not giving up.”
