Bolivar Makes a Difference

Introduction

Bolivar Makes a Difference is a project for collective obligations according to our mission: Positively impacting the community through social commitment from students, parents, teachers, employees, and alumni with the highest desire for the individual’s and the society’s well-being.

Our objective is to positively impact the community through social commitment from students, parents, teachers, employees, and alumni, with the highest aspiration for the individual’s and society’s well-being

Under this wide-ranging plan, which covers many programs and internal activities, Social Service is but one way our community helps others in need. Through this long standing program at our school we strive to give our students the opportunity to live our Values program, to create a sense of social awareness for those less fortunate, and to develop respect for children with different families and abilities. The committee has been reviewing the philosophical bases for the project and organizing information from the diverse institutions we reach out to.

  • Each grade level from K4 to 5th has an organization with which they work during the year. Preprimary began to plan their get-togethers with Cesoles, Escuela de la Trinidad and Incolballet for this first trimester. The activities are designed to have our children appreciate and value similarities and differences with children from other backgrounds.
  • Primary grades 2, 3, 4, & 5 work with Jardín Infantil Juan Pablo Segundo, Instituto para Niños Ciegos y Sordos, Escuela de la Trinidad & Liceo la Amistad. At these institutions our students have the opportunity to work with multi-age groups, physically challenged children and with young boys and girls who live in different socio economic neighborhoods in the western part of our city. The Bolivar students organize bake sales to help raise funds to help with scholarships or donations. For these encounters the visitors come on campus or our students go visit their schools.
  • Middle School works with three emphases: Sixth grade is environmental work with Bottle Up, Fundacion Paraiso de la Mascota, Fundacion Sentir Animal, Casa de la Cultura Ambiental de Pance, and Parque de las Garzas. Seventh grade integrates the social work through a humanitarian focus with Instituto Santa Maria; Eighth grade has an educational guidance with Escuela Central de Pance where they promote learning in all areas with help from Middle School leadership staff.
  • High school is working with Fundación Creeser, Escuela de la Trinidad, Oscar Scarpetta, Hogar Madre de Dios & Fundación Golazo. The older students help teach English at these institutes as well as provide stimulus for infants and recreational activities that promote community building and good citizenship.

There are many other activities the community works on during the school year which will be reported.
