Middle School

Academic Environment

The Middle School section at Colegio Bolivar is comprised of approximately 320 hard-working students accompanied by 32 teachers and 2 counselors.

All Middle School students take 8 classes during a semester. The school day runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the schedule rotates so the students see five, 70-minute periods daily. The average Middle School student will have classes in English, Spanish, Science, Social Studies, Math, ECAL (Latin American studies), Ethics, Physical Education and two electives. In addition to a rigorous academic schedule, students have the opportunity to join a variety of clubs, organizations and sports.

Each member of the Middle School (both students and teachers) belongs to a designated House. The students participate throughout the year in academic, athletic and community service activities where they can gain points for their House. At times the House activities are competitive, but the true benefit of these events is the spirit of community they bring. The students also learn to understand the importance of civic responsibility and giving back to the community at-large.

In Middle School we have a maximum of 22 students per class and a maximum total number of 110 students per grade level.

The Middle School is a community where we strive to understand and live by the Bolivar values of respect, integrity, personal best, curiosity, autonomy and responsibility, sense of Bolivar community, and social commitment.

Walking through the Middle School, one can see a community that is enthusiastic and ready to face the challenges of the future. Bright smiles and laughter permeate the halls and students work hard towards the goals of kindness, compassion, and academic excellence.
