A medium-term goal of the Fund is to allocate partial assistance called “Temporary Financial Assistance” to support Bolivar families experiencing economic difficulties so they can fulfill their obligations to the institution.
Prior to the pandemic, an average of 22 annual requests were received from Bolivar families facing economic challenges in meeting their obligations to the institution, and assistance was granted to 15 students, equivalent to 68% of the requests. This trend took a turn due to the unprecedented events of 2020.
Thanks to the trajectory of the ASOBOLIVAR Educational Fund, with over 29 years of existence, and the efficient management of resources, we were able to provide solidarity support and contribute to the well-being of our families amidst the challenges we faced. We managed to support almost all families that applied for the Temporary Financial Assistance Program, reaffirming the vision of our Bolivar Community to work together. Over the past four (4) school years, the trend has been returning to the previous average of requests. During the 2024-2025 academic year, assistance was provided to 17 students with a budget equivalent to $231 million.
Each school year, through the ASOBOLIVAR Fund, a limited budget is allocated for the Temporary Financial Assistance Program, prioritizing students based on the number of years at the school and the severity of the family crisis. The assistance entails granting one scholarship per family during the school year, covering a percentage of the annual tuition and transportation service. Depending on the analysis of each case, assistance ranges from 25% to 50% of the educational costs.
This program is funded by the Educational Fund and managed by the interdisciplinary ASOBOLÍVAR commission, which reports to the Financial Committee of the School’s Board of Directors. Starting from the 2010-2011 school year, the Board of Directors decided to extend this program from three to four years, specifically for families with students in Grade 12, based on the following criteria:
- Situations of documented family calamity.
- Availability of surplus resources from the Fund
- Excellent overall performance of the student, including character, personal aptitudes, peer relations, and ranking within the top 25% of their academic level.
